My story actually started when the company I was currently working for started keeping me away from common practices. First, I started to receive lower raises than other employees. Then my job description was completely changed. The only person I had been affiliated with for six years had referred me to different people, saying that I no longer needed to report to him. At this stage, I realized that I needed a real plan B.
How did my plan B come about?
I was already writing a different blog (gezentiyiz.biz) and I had attempts to earn side income with affiliate marketing. First of all, I planned to concentrate and develop there. Then one day Ozan said, “Why don’t you learn React?” said. Since I didn’t have much of an idea, I asked Google “What is React”. As far as I understood from what I read, I thought it would be worth a try and started the self-learning process. I didn’t know how it would go, would I be interested, would I want to progress, or would I be able to reach the levels that could be my new career? In fact, all I knew was that my past work processes were making me psychologically tired and I needed new achievements.
Where to start?
After saying “What is React”, I had to write React online courses to access online education sites 🙂 First of all, I took free courses on Udemy. Many topics that I thought I understood were left in the air in these lessons, which I saw as warm-up laps. Then I came across freecodecamp, where I completed the courses and got my certificate after the graduation assignments. I used Google for all the subjects I had difficulty with during these graduation assignments and I can say that my real learning process started at that time. However, I could not understand why some of the structures used were used. I couldn’t understand the differences between some usage patterns. In this way, I realized that learning React without knowledge of Javascript is not very correct.
So my advice in this regard would be to start from scratch in this sense, which language you intend to learn for software. For example, if you have a plan to specialize in frameworks such as Angular, React, Vue.js, you should master Javascript as much as possible. For this reason, I went back to the beginning and started to take HTML, CSS, Javascript trainings. Patika.dev helped me a lot with the starting paths in this sense.
In this process, I tried to both apply to bootcamps and complete the trainings. It is also important to have experience in Bootcamp evaluation processes. Of course, on the other hand, I focused on a project that I was trying to develop to use during the applications.
I hope you have a general picture of the process. I will keep you informed of developments.
